①Because the train was delayed, I was late. / Since the train was delayed, I was late. / For the train was delayed, I was late.のうち文法的に正しいものを選べ。
→Because the train was delayed, I was late. / Since the train was delayed, I was late.
※Because～は文法的に正しいが、「旧情報は前、新情報は後ろ」というルールを考えるとSince～の方がより適切。
②I was late because the train was delayed. / I was late since the train was delayed. / I was late for the train was delayed.のうち最も適切なものを選べ。
→I was late because the train was delayed.
※理由のsinceの節は文末に来ることはない（「旧情報は前、新情報は後ろ」というルール）。
③I was late, because the train was delayed. / I was late, since the train was delayed. / I was late, for the train was delayed.のうち最も適切なものを選べ。
→I was late, for the train was delayed.
※I was late, because the train was delayed.と言うこともあるが、従位接続詞の節を後ろに置くときは、基本的にコンマは使わない。
④I was late. Because the train was delayed. / I was late. Since the train was delayed. / I was late. For the train was delayed.のうち最も適切なものを選べ。
→I was late. For the train was delayed.
※従位接続詞の節だけの文を書いてはいけない。
⑤等位接続詞のforの意味と訳し方
→理由、というのも～だからだ
※「～なので……」と訳してはいけない（従位接続詞のbecauseと同じように訳してはいけない）。
⑥AもBも両方とも
→both A and B
⑦AではなくてB
→not A but B
⑧AだけでなくBもまた
→not only A but (also) B
⑨AかBのどちらか
→either A or B
⑩AもBも～ない
→neither A nor B
